QUICK ANSWER

Buying a Roblox account is never risk-free: Roblox's Terms of Use say that selling an account, and buying another user's account, is strictly prohibited, Roblox can suspend or terminate accounts that break its terms, and it says it cannot enforce or recover anything from deals made outside its own features. The biggest practical risk is the account being taken back, by whoever controls its email or by the original owner of a stolen account through Roblox support. You reduce it when the email is yours, the account was not stolen and you pay in a way that lets you check the account first.

Roblox has no way to hand an account from one player to another, so every sale works by handing over the login. This guide sets out what Roblox's rules say, which risks are real and what to do before and after you pay.

What Roblox's rules say

Roblox's Terms of Use say you may only use Roblox through your own account, that selling your account or login details to another user is strictly prohibited, and that buying another user's account or login details is strictly prohibited too. If you break the terms, Roblox can suspend or terminate the account, which can also end access to the Robux and items on it.

Roblox's help centre adds that it cannot enforce deals made outside its official features or return what was lost in them.

So if a bought account is taken back or closed, Roblox support will not restore it to you. Your protection has to come from how much control you get over the account and from where you buy it. You should also be old enough to agree to Roblox's terms yourself. See also whether selling game accounts is legal.

Why stolen accounts are the main problem on Roblox

Two ways of stealing Roblox accounts are common. Cookie theft: malware, often called a cookie logger or infostealer, copies the browser's .ROBLOSECURITY login cookie, which lets someone use the account without knowing the password. Phishing: fake login pages, "free Robux" offers or forms inside experiences ask players for their details. Roblox's safety advice tells players never to share their password, browser cookies or 2-Step Verification codes.

A stolen account is a bad buy even if it works on day one. Roblox's recovery process asks for proof such as the first email address added to the account or the billing email of its first payment, which the original owner still has, so they can ask support to return it and the buyer loses the account.

Why the email decides who controls the account

Roblox sends password resets and 2-Step Verification codes to the account's verified email, so whoever controls that inbox can reset the password and lock you out. There are two clean ways to buy: the inbox is handed over with the account, or no email is attached and you add and verify your own right after delivery. Avoid an account with a verified email you can't open.

Day-one checklist after you receive the account

  1. Change the password to one you don't use anywhere else.
  2. Add and verify your own email in Settings > Account Info, or log in to the included inbox and confirm you can read new messages.
  3. Turn on 2-Step Verification in Settings > Security. Roblox offers email, an authenticator app (the option it recommends) and security keys, and you need a verified email first. Save the backup codes.
  4. Log out of all other sessions from the "Where you're logged in" section in Settings > Security.
  5. Check Settings > Parental Controls for a linked parent account. Roblox replaced the old parent PIN with linked parent accounts, and a linked parent can still manage parts of the account.
  6. Never paste your .ROBLOSECURITY cookie into any website, tool or chat. Anyone who has it can use your session.

Before you pay, our guide on how to check a Roblox account before buying goes through the listing itself.

What a Roblox listing on BuyAccount shows

Each Roblox listing shows the join date and account age, the Robux balance and any Premium membership, the limited items with their RAP (read from Roblox's public API when the listing was published, or a note that the inventory is private), the inventory value, offsale items, game passes and the Robux spent in each experience. It also shows the email status (either the inbox is included, or no email is attached and you add your own) and the account's Roblox age group.

Listed accounts were not banned on Roblox at listing time and have no Xbox or PlayStation account linked. We don't list accounts whose Roblox age group is under 13, or accounts taken through phishing or malware. Payment is held until you confirm the account works, and every order has 14-day buyer protection. See our buyer protection page and how it works.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Roblox close a bought account?

Yes. Its Terms of Use prohibit buying and selling accounts and let it suspend or terminate accounts that break them. Full control of the login lowers the practical risks, but no account bought against the rules is risk-free.

Can the seller take the account back?

They can try, through the email, an old logged-in session or, as the original owner, Roblox support. The day-one checklist closes the first two; not buying stolen accounts is the only answer to the third.

Does the age group change when I buy the account?

No. The age check and age group belong to the account, not to whoever plays it, and chat features depend on them.
