Beta
A beta is a pre-release version of a game released to a limited audience for testing before the full launch. Developers use it to find bugs, balance gameplay, and stress-test their servers under real player load. Betas can be closed, requiring an invite or code, or open to everyone for a limited window.
An alpha is an even earlier, rougher stage. Players who joined during a beta sometimes receive exclusive rewards or early account creation dates, which can make those accounts collectible later. Progress made in a beta is often wiped before the game officially goes live.
