Can I play ranked immediately on a Challenger account?

Be honest with yourself. Challenger opponents play at Rank 1-300 EUW percentile — they have champion mastery and macro habits you may not. Buying a Challenger account when you play at Silver level results in fast LP loss. Consider coaching instead, or a lower-tier ranked account.
Why are higher tiers so much more expensive?
Three reasons: (1) listing supply is much smaller — there are far fewer Master+ players globally than Plat.
