GG (Good Game)

GG is short for “good game,” a phrase players type in chat at the end of a match to thank opponents and teammates for the game. It is one of the oldest and most widely used pieces of gaming etiquette, appearing in everything from casual lobbies to professional esports.

Saying GG signals good sportsmanship whether you won or lost. Variations exist too: GLHF (“good luck, have fun”) opens a match, while a sarcastic “gg ez” can read as mocking and is often discouraged or even punished. Used sincerely, GG is a small habit that keeps online communities friendlier.
