Golden Variant

The golden variant refers to a crop carrying the Gold mutation, which gives it a shiny gold appearance and multiplies its sell value by roughly twenty times. It is one of the most recognisable and reliably valuable mutations in the game.

Gold belongs to the same mutation group as the higher Rainbow effect and the two are mutually exclusive, so a crop cannot be both Gold and Rainbow at once. Gold can be triggered by certain pets, such as the Dragonfly, as well as by some gear, making it relatively attainable for steady income. Golden crops are a common benchmark for a well-mutated, high-value harvest.
