Ban Wave

A ban wave is a coordinated batch of penalties Rockstar issues across many GTA Online accounts at the same time, rather than one by one. Waves typically target mod-menu users, blatant cheats, and accounts holding obviously injected cash, and can mean a money wipe, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban.

Because waves hit retroactively, an account can look fine for weeks before action lands. The takeaway for buyers is to favor clean, modestly built accounts and avoid recent money drops, since a believable build is far less likely to be caught in a sweep.
