Magic Penetration
Magic penetration reduces how much of the enemy's magic resist applies against your spells, so your magic damage lands harder. It comes in two forms: flat penetration, which subtracts a set number, and percentage penetration, which removes a share of the target's total.
It is the magic counterpart to armor penetration and a core part of any mage's build. Flat penetration shines against low-resist targets, while percentage penetration is best against enemies who stack magic resist heavily. Most mages buy a mix so their damage stays effective no matter how the enemy team itemizes against them.
