Roaming
Roaming is leaving your own lane to create an advantage somewhere else — helping a teammate get a kill, securing an objective, or setting up vision. Mid laners and supports roam most often, since their lanes free them up to move.
A well-timed roam can swing two lanes at once: you gain a numbers advantage where you arrive while your lane opponent loses farm by following. Knowing when to roam versus stay and farm is a hallmark of high-level macro play.
