Summoner Spell

A summoner spell is a special ability that belongs to you, the player, rather than to your champion. Before a match you choose two from a shared pool, and they sit on long cooldowns separate from your champion's normal abilities.

Summoner spells are deliberately impactful: Flash repositions you instantly, Ignite finishes a kill, Teleport crosses the map, and Smite secures monsters. Choosing the right pair for your role is a basic but important skill, and knowing whether an enemy's spells are available shapes nearly every fight. They are unlocked as a League account levels up, which is one reason higher-level accounts feel more complete from the start.
