Freezing the Wave

Freezing the wave is holding the minion line in place near your own tower, usually by keeping the enemy’s minions slightly ahead so the wave never pushes. You last-hit but avoid killing minions faster than the enemy does, keeping the freeze steady.

A freeze forces your lane opponent to walk far forward to farm, where they are exposed to ganks and zoning, while you farm safely. It is a key tool within broader wave management, used to deny gold and snowball a lead from a strong lane position.
