Turret Plating

Turret plating refers to the layers of armour that protect outer turrets during the early game. Each plate adds extra health and resistance to the turret, and breaking one rewards the attacking team with a chunk of gold, with plates falling off automatically once the early phase ends.

Because plates pay out gold, taking them is a common way to convert lane pressure into an economic lead without needing a kill. Trading map priority for plating — or denying the enemy theirs — is a key part of laning, and stacking plates can quietly fund a winning item advantage.
