The Bench

The bench is the row of nine slots beneath your battlefield where you store champions that are not currently fighting. Units on the bench take no part in combat, but they are held safely and can be moved onto the board, combined into upgrades, or sold at any time.

The bench is essential for holding duplicate champions while you wait for a third copy to upgrade them, and for keeping pieces of future comps you plan to transition into. Letting your bench fill completely is risky, since you can no longer hold newly bought units — managing bench space is a quiet but constant part of play.
