Storm Surge

Storm Surge is an anti-camping mechanic that triggers when too many players remain alive relative to how much damage is being dealt across the lobby. When it activates, the players who have done the least damage take ticking damage from the storm until enough eliminations or hits bring the count down.

It exists to stop large numbers of players from hiding and refusing to fight, especially in competitive matches. Storm Surge pushes passive teams into the action, so dealing consistent damage — not just surviving — becomes part of staying alive. Knowing your surge status shapes whether you play aggressively or keep rotating for position.
