Leaderboard

A leaderboard is a ranked list that displays the top players by a chosen measure, such as rank points, wins, kills, or fastest completion time. Leaderboards can be global, regional, or limited to your friends, and they reset on a schedule in many competitive games — for example each ranked season.

They drive competition by giving skilled players a public goal and visible bragging rights. Reaching a top leaderboard spot usually takes huge time investment, which is part of why high-rank accounts hold value. Players chasing the top often track the boards closely to see how far they are from the next position.
