Rift Herald

The Rift Herald is a powerful neutral monster that spawns in the top side of the river during the early game, in the pit where Baron Nashor later appears. Killing it drops the Eye of the Herald, which a player picks up and releases to summon the Herald as an ally.

Once released, the Herald charges forward and rams an enemy turret, dealing heavy structural damage and helping the team take towers and open the map. It is one of the most important early objectives, so teams contest it the way they later contest Baron, and securing it often snowballs a lead in gold and map pressure.
