League of Legends

Scaling

Scaling describes how a champion's power grows over the course of a match as they gain levels, items, and abilities. A strong-scaling champion is weak early but becomes dominant in the mid-to-late game, while an early-game champion peaks sooner and falls off later. Hypercarries like Kayle or Kassadin are classic scaling picks.

Understanding scaling shapes how you play: weaker-early champions farm safely and avoid fights until they hit their power spikes, while early-game bullies press their advantage before the enemy catches up. Knowing whether your team scales better than the enemy's tells you whether to force fights now or play for the long game.
