Shutdown
A shutdown is the extra bounty gold awarded for killing an enemy champion who has built up a kill streak without dying. The more kills a player racks up, the larger the shutdown bounty placed on their head, capping at 1000 bonus gold on top of the normal kill reward.
Shutdowns are a built-in comeback mechanic: a fed enemy is worth far more than a normal kill, so focusing the snowballing carry can swing gold leads back in your favor. Players often track who is "worth a shutdown" before committing to a fight, since claiming one can fund a key item and stabilize a losing game.
