Anchoring

Anchoring is the defensive role of staying on and holding one bombsite, often alone, while the rest of the team plays elsewhere or rotates. The anchor's job is not necessarily to win the fight outright but to delay attackers, gather information, and trade or stall long enough for teammates to arrive for a retake.

Sentinels like Killjoy and Cypher are classic anchors because their traps and utility let one player cover a lot of space. Good anchoring blends patient positioning, smart use of off-angles, and knowing when to fall back and save instead of dying for free. It is a discipline-heavy role that quietly decides many defensive rounds.
