Recon Ability

A recon ability is utility that reveals the locations of nearby enemies, giving a team information about where defenders are set up. Sova’s Recon Bolt, Fade’s Haunt, and Sova’s Owl Drone are classic Initiator examples that scan an area and tag anyone caught in range.

Information wins rounds in Valorant: knowing a site is empty lets a team commit instantly, while a single revealed defender tells attackers exactly where to flash and push. Because recon strips away the defenders’ biggest advantage — the element of surprise — reliable scouting is one of the most valued contributions in coordinated play.
