Lag
Lag is any noticeable delay between your input and the game responding. Players use it as a catch-all term, but it usually comes from one of two sources: network lag, caused by high ping or an unstable connection, and performance lag, caused by low frame rate on weaker hardware.
Network lag shows up as rubber-banding, where characters teleport or snap back, while performance lag shows up as stutter and dropped frames. Telling the two apart matters because the fixes differ — a better connection or closer server region helps network lag, while better settings or hardware helps performance lag.
