Smoke
A smoke is a deployable cloud of vapour that blocks vision for a short time, used to cut off sightlines and let players cross dangerous areas unseen. Controllers are the main smoke agents — Brimstone’s Sky Smoke, Omen’s Dark Cover, and Viper’s Toxic Screen are common examples.
Smokes are one of the most important pieces of utility in Valorant: attackers use them to isolate angles when entering a site, and defenders use them to delay or wall off pushes. Knowing standard smoke placements (called lineups) for each map is a core skill that separates coordinated teams from disorganised ones.
