How Much Is a GTA 5 Modded Account Worth?

A GTA 5 modded account is worth what its full package is worth to a buyer: the GTA$ balance, rank, completed unlocks, platform and, above all, a safe handover with email access. The biggest mistake is assuming a bigger GTA$ number always means a more valuable account. There's no fixed price list for these accounts, but once you know the handful of factors that move the price, and one official reference point, you can judge any listing (or your own account) quickly.
The factors that set the price
- GTA$ balance: the obvious one, but with sharply diminishing returns. Going from $0 to a few hundred million is what opens up the game; going from one billion to two changes almost nothing about what you can actually buy.
- Rank: weapons unlock with rank (the Minigun, the highest-rank weapon unlock, arrives at rank 120), and a high rank signals an established account, so it has value beyond the cash.
- Unlocks and completion: owned businesses, properties and upgraded vehicles, plus vehicle trade prices, which are earned by completing specific activities rather than by rank. An account where the money has already been spent on the right setup can be worth more than a bigger balance that still needs investing.
- Platform and version: PC accounts dominate the modded market, and a PC listing should say whether the character is on GTA V Legacy or Enhanced. Console accounts are valued on legitimate progress instead.
- Email access: full access, so you can secure the account, is non-negotiable for a safe purchase and a big part of what you're paying for.
- Stats and age: a believable K/D, completed activities and an older account all make a build look organic, which is itself worth paying for.
A useful reference point: Shark Card prices
Rockstar's own prices give you an anchor for what GTA$ is "officially" worth. The largest Shark Card, the Megalodon, adds GTA$10,000,000 for $99.99 in the US, which works out to roughly $10 per GTA$1 million. Rockstar raised Shark Card values by 20% in December 2022 and dropped the smallest card at the same time.
Modded balances are far larger than any Shark Card delivers, which is the whole appeal, but that comparison is a sanity check rather than a valuation: injected money can be removed, and official GTA$ can't be. Our guide to how GTA Online money works covers the economy behind these numbers.
Why "believable" beats "biggest"
This is the counter-intuitive part. Two accounts can advertise wildly different balances, and the one with less money can be the better buy. An account with a sensible balance, a high rank and a fully kitted-out business empire looks like a long-time player's profile and draws far less attention than one with a low rank and an injected billion. Rockstar's policy is that a suspension resets the account's online progress, so the build least likely to attract enforcement is the one most likely to keep its value. A simple way to value one
Rank a listing against four questions, in this order:
- Does it come with full email access? If not, its value drops sharply regardless of the cash, because you can't secure it.
- Is the build complete? High rank plus key businesses plus upgraded vehicles is worth more than raw cash sitting unspent.
- Is the balance believable? A clean unlock-all with a moderate balance is worth more, in practice, than a reckless billion.
- Are the platform and seller right? PC for modded, the correct PC version, and a seller whose payment is held until delivery.
What makes an account worth less
- No email access, or "recovery only" delivery.
- A huge balance paired with a suspiciously low rank.
- Console accounts marketed as "modded" (usually a red flag).
- A seller who won't use escrow or won't confirm the platform and version.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are some modded accounts so cheap?
Because injected GTA$ costs the seller almost nothing to create on PC, so the price reflects the unlock-all convenience and the delivery, not the literal cash figure. That's also why a cheap "billion-dollar" account isn't the bargain it looks like: the headline number is the least valuable part.
Is a higher balance always better?
No. Past a certain point, extra cash adds little you can spend it on and makes the account more conspicuous. A complete, believable account is worth more than a bigger but riskier one.
How much should I expect to pay?
There's no fixed price: it varies with rank, completeness, platform and delivery far more than with the raw balance. Compare several listings side by side, check what the same GTA$ would cost in Shark Cards, and favour a mid-balance, high-completion account over the biggest number.
Does account age matter?
Yes, modestly. An older account with organic-looking stats blends in better than a freshly created one loaded overnight, which is part of why it can command a higher price.
