Ascendant and Immortal are the two ranks that separate very good Valorant players from the top 1%. Ascendant was added in 2022 to bridge the gap between Diamond and Immortal, and Immortal sits directly above it as the last step before Radiant. Here's what separates the two in skill, rank rating and queue rules, and what each means on an account.

Where each rank sits on the ladder

The top of Valorant's ladder runs Diamond, Ascendant, Immortal, Radiant. Ascendant has three divisions, and in September 2026 tracker data, Ascendant and above was roughly the top 7% of tracked players. Immortal also has three divisions, and Immortal and above was only about the top 1%. Above that is Radiant, limited to the top 500 players in each region. For the full ladder, see our Valorant rank distribution guide.

The real differences that matter

  • Skill gap. Ascendant players have strong mechanics and game sense. Immortal demands consistent aim, sharper utility and the discipline to beat opponents who rarely give away free rounds. The jump from Ascendant 3 to Immortal 1 is one of the most-felt walls in the game.
  • The road to Radiant. From Immortal, the next step is a place in the regional top 500. Radiant also needs a minimum Rank Rating that depends on the region, so Immortal players are effectively competing on a leaderboard.
  • Queue and party rules. At Immortal and Radiant, you can only queue with players of very similar rank. Parties that include a Radiant player earn heavily reduced RR, so top players mostly climb solo or in tight duos.
  • Resets. Everyone replays five placement games twice a year, when ranks reset at the start and the midpoint of each Season. High-rank players usually land a couple of tiers down and have to climb back.

What each rank signals on an account

Both ranks are scarce, and Immortal is much rarer: about 1% of tracked players against roughly 7% for Ascendant and above. That scarcity shows up on the account market too. On 25 September 2026, our marketplace had one Immortal and no Ascendant listings among 1,053 Valorant accounts, too few to measure a price gap. In Valorant, rank also sits on top of the locker: a strong knife collection can matter more than the rank difference. Use our Valorant value calculator to see how rank and skins combine.

Which should you aim for (or buy)?

If you're climbing, Ascendant is a realistic stretch goal for dedicated players, while Immortal is a genuine top-1% achievement. Our guide to ranking up fast in Valorant covers how to get there. If you're buying, decide what the rank is for. An Ascendant account gives you a strong ranked base, while an Immortal account is about prestige and being one step from Radiant. Either way, verify the rank with a current Career-tab screenshot and recent match history. Our valuation guide lists what else to confirm before paying.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ascendant higher than Immortal?

No. The order is Diamond, Ascendant, Immortal, Radiant. Ascendant sits below Immortal; it was added in 2022 to bridge Diamond and Immortal.

What percentage of players are Immortal vs Ascendant?

In September 2026 tracker data, Ascendant and above was roughly the top 7% of tracked players, and Immortal and above about the top 1%.

Is an Immortal account worth more than an Ascendant account?

Immortal is much rarer, so buyers usually expect to pay more for it. But in Valorant the locker often matters more than rank, so a skin-heavy Ascendant account can still out-price a bare Immortal one. High-rank listings are too rare on our marketplace to measure the gap.

How hard is it to go from Ascendant to Immortal?

It's one of the toughest jumps in the game. Immortal demands consistent mechanics and decision-making against players who rarely make free mistakes, which is why only about 1% of tracked players reach it.
