Valorant Rank Distribution in 2026

Valorant's ranked ladder is steeper than most players think. In September 2026 community-tracker data, Gold was the largest single tier and roughly the middle of the ladder, about a third of tracked players were Platinum or higher, Immortal and above was only about 1%, and Radiant is capped at the top 500 players per region. Here's the 2026 Valorant rank distribution, where the average player really lands, and what rank means for an account.
How Valorant's ranked ladder works
Competitive runs through nine tiers: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Ascendant, Immortal and Radiant. Every tier below Radiant has three divisions. Ascendant was added in 2022 between Diamond and Immortal. Radiant works differently: it's reserved for the top 500 players in each region, and a player must also pass a Rank Rating (RR) threshold that depends on the region. So Radiant is a leaderboard position, not a tier you simply reach.
You need Account Level 20 to play Competitive. A new account plays five placement games, and the highest rank you can place into is Ascendant 3.
Valorant rank distribution in 2026
Riot doesn't publish an official distribution, so these figures come from community trackers that sample tracked ranked matches. We rounded the shares vstats.gg showed for V26 Act 5 (September 2026). They describe tracked players, not the whole player base, and they move from Act to Act.
| Rank or higher | Approx. share of tracked players |
|---|---|
| Platinum and above | ~33% |
| Diamond and above | ~17% |
| Ascendant and above | ~7% |
| Immortal and above | ~1% |
| Radiant | Top 500 per region |
In the same data, Gold was the largest single tier at about 22% of tracked players, with Silver close behind at about 20%. Another tracker, Esports Tales, showed a similar shape on 20 September 2026: Gold and Silver the two largest tiers, and Immortal a little over 1%.
So what's the "average" Valorant rank?
With about a third of tracked players at Platinum or higher, and Silver and below making up well under half, the middle of the ladder sits in Gold. Reference points, all approximate:
- Gold: the largest tier and roughly the median.
- Platinum: about the top third, clearly above average.
- Diamond: around the top 17%, a strong and recognizable rank.
- Ascendant: roughly the top 7%.
- Immortal: about the top 1%.
- Radiant: the top 500 per region, the ceiling.

What rank means for account value
Rank isn't the biggest driver of a Valorant account's price. On our marketplace, knife skins and the rest of the locker explain most of the spread. Rank still matters, though:
- Most accounts for sale are unranked. About 78% of our 1,053 active Valorant listings were unranked on 25 September 2026, mostly Level 20+ accounts ready for placements.
- Placed accounts ask more. In the same snapshot, ranked listings asked more than unranked ones with a similar number of skins, even at Iron to Gold.
- High ranks are rare for sale too. We had one Immortal and no Ascendant or Radiant listing, which fits how few players reach those tiers.

Why the numbers shift
Valorant fully resets ranks twice a year, at the start of each Season and at its midpoint, when everyone plays five placement games again and usually lands a couple of tiers below where they finished. In between, each new Act needs just one placement game to restore your rank. Right after a reset the distribution looks bottom-heavy, then it settles as players climb back. The exact percentages drift, but the shape stays the same: a crowded middle and a razor-thin top. Our guide to Valorant Seasons, Episodes and Acts explains the calendar.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the average rank in Valorant?
Gold. In September 2026 tracker data, Gold was the largest tier and about a third of tracked players were Platinum or higher, so the median player sits in Gold.
What percentage of players are Immortal in Valorant?
About 1% of tracked players were Immortal or higher in September 2026 data from vstats.gg and Esports Tales. Ascendant and above was roughly 7%.
Is Diamond a good rank in Valorant?
Yes. Diamond and above was around the top 17% of tracked players, comfortably above the Gold median.
How many Radiant players are there?
Radiant is limited to the top 500 players in each region, and those players must also pass a regional Rank Rating threshold. That cap is why verified Radiant accounts are so scarce.
