How to Level Up Fast in Valorant

The fastest way to raise your Valorant account level is to clear your daily checkpoints and weekly missions, then play full round-based matches, where every round played earns 100 XP and every round won adds 200 more. Winning rounds and finishing matches matter; kills don't. If your goal is unlocking Competitive at Level 20, a mission-first routine gets you there fastest.
How Valorant account XP actually works
Your account level is a running total of the XP you earn. The same XP also fills your Battle Pass, so there's no separate "leveling grind": playing the game is the grind.
XP comes from two places. The first is matches. In Unrated, Competitive, Swiftplay and Premier, you earn 100 XP for every round played and 200 XP for every round won. Your kills and K/D don't change the XP. Finishing matters too: leaving early or going AFK cuts your XP and can earn a queue penalty. The second source is missions. Daily checkpoints and weekly missions grant flat XP chunks on top of your matches, which is why mission-first play is the fastest route.
The fastest XP sources
- Weekly missions are the biggest single payouts. Many are objective-based ("plant or defuse the spike", "deal damage"), so pick modes that let you complete them naturally.
- Daily checkpoints refresh every day, so logging in regularly keeps a steady XP stream flowing.
- Winning rounds triples the XP of a round compared with losing it, so playing to win in round-based modes pays off.
- Finishing every match protects your XP and keeps you out of queue penalties.
Playing also earns Kingdom Credits, the free currency that unlocks agents and agent cosmetics. New agents come with a free recruitment event when they launch, and you can unlock them later with Kingdom Credits or VP. You can play the modes below while you learn your agents.
Which modes to play
| Mode | How it earns XP | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Unrated | 100 XP per round played + 200 per round won; long matches | Big payouts per match and real practice |
| Swiftplay | Same per-round XP, shorter matches | Objective missions and quick sessions |
| Deathmatch | Short, non-round mode | Kill and damage missions, warming up aim |
| Team Deathmatch | Short, non-round mode | Gunplay missions and quick sessions |
| Spike Rush | Short rounds, casual | Fast objective play between longer matches |
A good blend for most players: Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch to clear kill-based missions and warm up, Swiftplay for objective missions, and full Unrated matches whenever you have the time, since round wins pay the most XP.
A daily routine to hit Level 20 fast
- Open the mission tab first. Read your daily checkpoints and weekly missions before you queue, so you know which objectives to chase.
- Warm up in Deathmatch. It clears kill and damage missions while sharpening your aim.
- Play Swiftplay for objectives. Short matches complete plant/defuse and round-based missions quickly.
- Finish with an Unrated match when you have time. Every round win adds 200 XP on top of the 100 for playing it.
- Never leave early. Leaving or going AFK forfeits XP and can lock you out of queues.
Repeat that loop and you'll clear your weekly missions before reset, which is where a big share of your XP comes from.
When buying an account beats grinding
Leveling is simple, but it's still many matches before Competitive unlocks. Plenty of players would rather start with an account that's already Level 20 and ready for placements, or a clean smurf for playing alongside lower-ranked friends. On our marketplace, about 89% of active Valorant listings were already Level 20 or higher on 25 September 2026.
If that's you, pick a hand-leveled account with full email access, pay through a marketplace that holds your payment, and secure the account as soon as it arrives. Frequently Asked Questions
What level do you need to play Competitive in Valorant?
Level 20. Once your account reaches it, you can queue Competitive, and five placement games set your first rank.
What is the fastest way to earn XP in Valorant?
Clear your daily checkpoints and weekly missions, then play full round-based matches. Every round played earns 100 XP and every round won adds 200, so finishing matches and winning rounds levels you fastest.
Does winning give more XP than losing?
Yes, a lot more. In round-based modes, a round you win is worth 300 XP in total (100 for playing it plus 200 for winning it), against 100 XP for a round you lose. Kills and K/D don't change the XP.
Is it faster to buy a Level 20 account than to grind?
Yes, if you want to play ranked right away. A Level 20+ account lets you go straight to placements. The main risk is a seller taking it back, so buy a hand-leveled account through a marketplace with buyer protection and secure it on arrival by changing the email, password and MFA.
