Is It Safe to Buy a Clash of Clans Account?

QUICK ANSWER
Buying a Clash of Clans account is never risk-free: Supercell's Terms of Service forbid buying and selling accounts, and Supercell says it cannot support bought accounts. The real-world risk is the previous owner taking the account back through Supercell support, not a random ban of a quiet buyer. You cut that risk sharply when the account has no phone number on its Supercell ID, you receive the email it is linked to, and you move the Supercell ID to your own email on day one, with payment held in escrow until you have checked it.
Clash of Clans has no official way to transfer an account, so every sale works by handing over the Supercell ID login. That handover is exactly where things go wrong. This guide sets out what Supercell's rules actually say, which risks are real, and the checks that make a purchase reasonably safe.
What Supercell's rules say
Supercell's Terms of Service state that you may not "purchase, sell, rent or give away your Account", and that you may not share the account or its login information. The same terms let Supercell limit, suspend or terminate accounts that break them, with or without notice.
Supercell also has a support article called "A Bought Account Is Never Yours". It says buying, selling and sharing accounts are against the Terms of Service and adds that "Supercell cannot provide support for sold/bought accounts". In practice that means one thing for a buyer: if anything goes wrong after the sale, Supercell support will not take your side, so your protection has to come from the account itself and from where you buy it. For the wider legal picture, see whether selling game accounts is legal.
The real risks, ranked
| Risk | Why it happens | How to reduce it |
|---|---|---|
| The previous owner recovers the account | Supercell support restores an account to whoever proves ownership, for example with the player tag, the account's clan and level, and transaction IDs of purchases made on it | Get the email the Supercell ID is linked to, change the Supercell ID email to your own the same day, and buy with a dispute window |
| A phone number is locked to the account | Supercell's Account Protection links a phone number for SMS codes and recovery codes, and it cannot be switched off, not even by support | Only buy accounts with no phone number on the Supercell ID |
| The account is shared or resold | The seller keeps a way in, or sells the same account twice; Supercell suspends accounts it detects as shared | Take over the login completely and log out every other device right after delivery |
| The listing doesn't match | Town Hall, hero levels or equipment were misdescribed or shown in old screenshots | Check the levels in the game against the listing before you confirm delivery |
| Payment goes to a scammer | Paying a stranger directly leaves nothing to dispute | Pay through escrow, so the seller is only paid once the account checks out |
Why the phone number matters most
Account Protection is Supercell's extra security layer: once it is on, logging in can require an SMS code or a recovery code. Supercell's help centre says it cannot be disabled, either by the player or by support; it can only be reset to change the number. On a bought account that means the previous owner's phone stays the key. Every Clash of Clans account on BuyAccount has no phone number on its Supercell ID, and the listing says so.
Day-one checklist after you receive the account
- Log in to the email the Supercell ID is linked to and confirm you can read new messages.
- Sign in to Supercell ID in Clash of Clans with the code sent to that email (Supercell ID has no password).
- Change the Supercell ID email to your own: Settings, Supercell ID, the cogwheel, then Change Email. Supercell sends a code to the current email to confirm it.
- Check the village: Town Hall, each hero's level, equipment and troops against the listing.
- Watch for new-device emails. Supercell emails you when the Supercell ID logs in on a new device; choosing "This is not my device" logs it out on every device.
- Turn on Account Protection with your own phone number if you want the extra layer, knowing it is permanent once enabled.
What makes a Clash of Clans listing trustworthy
Screenshots are easy to reuse. A listing is more reliable when its numbers come from the game itself. On BuyAccount each Clash of Clans listing shows the account's Town Hall and experience level and every hero, piece of hero equipment, pet, troop, spell and siege machine with its level, read from the official Clash of Clans data when the listing was published, plus the other Supercell games on the same Supercell ID. We also leave out accounts our supplier marks as obtained by phishing or brute force, and heavily rushed villages.
Payment is held in escrow until you confirm the account, and every order is covered by 14-day buyer protection against a mismatch, failed delivery or an account that stops working through the seller's fault. The terms are on our buyer protection page; how it works shows the order flow, and how to pay safely covers the payment side.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Supercell ban me for buying a Clash of Clans account?
Buying an account breaks Supercell's Terms of Service, and the terms allow Supercell to suspend or terminate accounts that break them. Supercell also suspends accounts it detects as shared. Taking over the login completely, so the account is used by one person only, avoids the sharing problem; nobody can promise that an account bought against the rules is risk-free.
Can the seller take the account back?
They can try. Supercell support restores an account to the person who can prove ownership, for example with purchase transaction IDs. Getting the linked email, changing the Supercell ID email immediately and buying with buyer protection that covers recovery is your protection.
Why do some listings say "no phone number linked"?
Because a phone number added through Account Protection cannot be removed. An account with someone else's phone on it is effectively still theirs.
Do I get Brawl Stars or Clash Royale progress too?
If the same Supercell ID has progress in other Supercell games, it comes with it. Our listings name those games and their main numbers.
