Town Hall 9 to 11 is a cheap start with the first heroes unlocked; Town Hall 13 to 15 adds the Royal Champion, siege machines, pets and, at 15, the Dragon Duke, and is where full war strategies open up; Town Hall 17 and 18 are the endgame, worth it only if the heroes are high too. Town Hall 18 is currently the maximum.

Which stage fits you

  • You're starting out or want a cheap second account: Town Hall 9 to 11. The first three heroes are there, attacks are simple to learn and upgrades are still quick.
  • You want to play Clan Wars and Clan War Leagues seriously: Town Hall 13 to 15 with well-levelled heroes. The Royal Champion, siege machines and pets make the common war strategies possible.
  • You want the endgame: Town Hall 17 or 18, but only with high heroes and equipment. A rushed Town Hall 18 leaves you facing other Town Hall 18 players with weaker heroes.

Why hero levels matter more than the Town Hall

Supercell's Clan War matchmaking compares clans by their members' attacking and defensive power, counts heroes towards both, and tries to match clans with similar Town Hall levels. A village whose Town Hall raced ahead of its heroes, which players call "rushed", ends up against opponents with the same Town Hall and stronger heroes. Don't forget the Builder Base

Every account from Town Hall 6 has the Builder Base, a second village with its own Builder Hall (up to level 10) and two heroes, the Battle Machine and Battle Copter. A levelled Builder Base is a bonus on top of the main village.
